update: qdpm supports gantt charts from version 5.5

Here is what I found:

1. Clockingi.com, http://www.clockingit.com/  has nice graphical reports, gantt charts and svn support

2. Codeni, http://www.codendi.com from XEROX, supports svn/cvs repository browsing and gantt charts, seems a complex and mature product

3. Collabtive, http://collabtive.o-dyn.de/, it’s a simple, lightweight project management too, useful for a very small team or a freelancer

4. project-open, http://www.project-open.org/

6. Redmine, http://www.redmine.org/, gantt charts, integrations with SVN, CVS, Mercurial, etc.. written in Ruby on Rails

Let me tell you even I am an experienced programmer, this is not a trivial thing to do. However hopefully with a little help I can get the new website going in about a month.

I’ll use yahoo protocol 16 and the visitors will be able to send a message to their friends in the case they are found to be invisible. Something like: I see you!   or hey you said you can’t take me out to a movie, but I see you have time to chat on ym or anything

There is a minimum input required by user because by default the input language is automatically detected and the output will be browser language or even better – the country from the user browses (easily found by it’s ip address using Geo ip database for instance)

The catch is to use the web service and not the ajax feature of google’s translation and detection tool. The reason is to have most of the words the users are looking for indexed. And also it will look like your own service – so you can brand it your own way.

I am sure that with some little link building and a little work you can have a decent monetisation on it.

Update (case study): this dictionary website implemented google api to easily translate words and phrased from various languages. Further more it’s webmaster choose to implement other dictionaries as well, making his dictionary website an easy to use dictionary list.

In the announce Yahoo does not specify the reason for such a decision, however I am sure it was not easy for them to take it.

I always find it difficult to remember all the usernames and passwords that I use (especially when I come back from holidays )

Openid.net offers the possibility for using a single user account for all the websites you use.

Websites like Yahoo, WordPress, AOL, Blogger, Flickr, Orange, Technorati offers an openid account.
This means that you may already have an openid account!

The default installation of osc is indeed outdated and simple. But, because of the vast community it has, the vast spread of the software and been so simple and fast the oscommerce can be fully customized to any kind of needs a merchant can have (in matter of design, user experience and backend programming).

Recently a valid option many like to think is magentocommerce.
For now – I would not recommend magentocommerce to my customers without warning them first. Magento is DEADLY slow and has a deadly bad documentation. The customization process takes a lot more time and of course this is translated into money – Costs of running a magento shop are a lot higher. I tend to think that magento hasn’t a good documentation just because their staff must offer expensive services to help merchants to run an open source e-commerce application…
